"Got Milk?"

My family primarily drinks water, tea, occasionally juice and my favorite, milk. I have always enjoyed milk especially with Mom's homemade cookies. Yum!

This ad contains the singer Taylor Swift sitting in a wooden chair, there is a rustic brick background behind her. Taylor is wearing a flesh colored dress and has her hair down in soft curls. She is steadying her guitar in her lap with her left hand and with her right had up by her neck. She is in a pose to make her appear flirtatious toward the viewer of the ad. She is in a dim light room with side lighting. In the upper left corner it says, "Got Milk?" On the right hand corner it says, "Swift pick" which is a play on words. Her last name is Swift, she is holding a guitar, and it also means that she, "picks" milk. Under that, is information about studies done indicating that teens who drink milk as opposed to sugary drinks are more likely to be lean.

I chose this ad for several reasons. First, I could see several persuasive techniques that I thought would be fun to deconstruct. Secondly, it was appropriate for school, whereas laughably, many of the cologne ads that I initially looked up were not. Finally, I like the "Got Milk?" commercials and thought it would be fun to select for this project.

The persuasion techniques I recognized in the ad were as follows:
*CELEBRITIES-She is a well know music artist.
*BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE- She is beautiful and in a flirtatious pose for the ad.
*HUMOR-The milk mustache is use of humor in the ad.

*REPETITION- The quote, "Got Milk?" is on repeated in each of the milk ads.
*EXPERTS- The ad points to studies suggesting that teens who drink milk instead of sugary drinks tend to be leaner.
